Abby Modell

Abby Modell creates one-of-a-kind hand-blown glass - three-dimensional wall art, sculptural objects, and LED lighting that translate the light of the cosmos into form. Inspired by formations of ultra-luminous swirling stars with their infinite dimension and ever-changing rotation, she focuses on transparencies, refracted light, and modern forms, merging design, color, shape, texture, and light to reveal the beauty of the universe. Matte, mirrored, and gloss glass mixed with DiamondDust™ fire-polished glass assemblages and Swarovski crystals create her signature textural, galactic surfaces; ombré palettes and dichroic glass cast rainbows of light within many works.

The Medici Museum of Art in Warren, Ohio recently acquired Rainbow Galaxy, a monumental hand-blown glass wall installation, for its entrance, and her sculptural works are currently exhibited there in Zodiac: Mysterious Power of the Creative, presented by the Carole A. Feuerman Sculpture Foundation. In 2023, Bloomingdale's commissioned Modell to create her "Candy WonderLandscape" windows as part of its iconic NYC Holiday Windows.

Modell's work is held in private, corporate, and museum collections including the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, Morgan Stanley's world headquarters in New York, and the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, with commissioned collections for Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas and the Fabergé Big Egg Hunt in New York City. Her collection is represented exclusively by Contessa Gallery in Florida and New York.

Modell is a Swarovski Ingredient Brand Partner and partners with a zero-waste certified sustainable glass finishing studio committed to reducing environmental impact. Working between New York and Florida.
